Lufthansa Airbus A321 Engine Shuts Down in Flight near Berlin

Lufthansa Airbus A321, performing flight from Munich to Helsinki with 158 passengers on board, was enroute south of Berlin when the crew needed to shut the right hand engine down and diverted the aircraft to Berlin Tegel for a safe landing.

The airport reported the aircraft landed single engine.

The airline confirmed the aircraft landed safely with one of two engines operating.

A replacement A320-200 registration D-AIPB reached Helsinki with a delay of 3 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Berlin.
