AS the world celebrated World Contraception Day on Saturday, the Commission on Population and Development (Popcom) stressed the importance of proper information and right choices among Filipino couples to prevent unplanned pregnancies amid a projected population boom in the country because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic

This comes as the United Nations is projecting that 47 million women may lose access to contraception, leading up to 7 million unplanned pregnancies across the globe, creating health and socioeconomic impact on women and their families.
