Ukraine completely stops air traffic with the Republic of Belarus and redirects all flights bypassing its airspace, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine Oleksiy Danilov told Interfax-Ukraine.

“Considering the level of danger and impudence of challenges to democratic values that the Belarusian authorities pose by their activities in the immediate vicinity of the borders of Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky initiated a decision to completely stop air traffic with the Republic of Belarus and redirect all flights bypassing its airspace. The head of state instructed the government to work out the relevant issue,” the NSDC secretary said.

The NSDC secretary also said that “the detention of a Belarusian opposition journalist in Minsk on May 23 is an open challenge to the entire democratic world, an impudent disregard for international norms and rules.”
