Fail To Fight: A Second Chance At Forever Kindle Edition

3.7 out of 5 stars 121 ratings

From USA Today and International Bestselling Author Maci Dillon, comes a standalone, controversial novel inspired by true events.

They were the perfect couple. He was her first love.
Until a jealous rage destroys them both.

Chloe Lee is left physically and emotionally broken. Humiliated.

Destined to live in the shadows of her darkest days, she must move on and pick up the pieces of her broken heart alone.

But Will Jamieson is seeking redemption for his unforgivable sins.

When he comes crawling back, looking hotter than ever, it’s clear to Chloe he’s not leaving without a fight.

Ten years on, is it possible the all-consuming passion and undeniable love for each other remain strong enough to give their love a second chance?

Fail to Fight is a steamy and emotional, second chance romance based on real-life events. It may be confronting for some readers as it contains domestic violence and the forgiveness of what most would say is unforgivable.

“Incredibly deep, and so very emotional.”
– Amazon Reviewer

“#epicendingallert – I was shook. I need more. Really bloody brilliant.´

“…emotionally charged with loss, secrets, betrayal, heartbreak, healing, forgiveness, redemption, and love… a steamy and all-consuming page turner.”

Maci Dillon is a daydreamer and true minx at heart who loves to read and write steamy romance filled with love, lust, angst, and humor. She also enjoys writing raunchy short stories within these tropes.

Chloe and Will's story is heartbreaking and heartfelt. After a silly mistake by Chloe while under serious emotional stress, their happily ever after is bought to a sudden hault when Will leaves. Fast forward ten years and with neither of them being able to move forward, they agree to meet up and try to put their past to rest... but fate has other ideas.
Past hurts and misunderstandings will be cleared up and forgiveness will be made.
Their story will hold your attention from start to finish, you will experience their journey right along with them, even the times you don't want to.
Great story, hard to put down. Can't wait for more from this talented author.

Chloe and Will were in love and engaged to be married when under emotional stress she makes an error in judgement that results into Will making a disastrous mistake that ends their happy ever after. Ten years later neither has been able to move on completely from their relationship, so they agree to meet for closure.

The results of that evening will leave you emotionally drained as you feel the deep love that they will always have for each other. The only question that remains is if their love is strong enough to overcome the pain of the past so that they can have the future they have always wanted.

A big thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This was not a book that I liked very much. I wanted to like Will but I don't know something felt messed up. I wouldn't have taken him back. He didn't even care enough about Chloe to ensure she was ok in the past. He just walked away. This is barely a 3 for me.

I have been a fan of Maci Dillon since she first started writing. I was alerted to the re-release of Fail to Fight and I'm so glad. She totally re-worked the novella into a full length novel and I have to say, WOW, what a difference a few years can make in someone's writing.

I loved Fail to Fight originally but I am absolutely thrilled with the new version. If you've read the original, you will definitely see ALL THE AMAZING CHANGES.

I can't wait to see what Maci has planned in Fail to Love, book two.

    (( SPOILERS ))
There was a lot of wrong in this book. Both of them have issues/baggage.. and it was all glossed over.
Will & Chloe start off in some whirlwind romance and it turns ugly in the end.
I mean, the guy knocked her out at their engagement party, because he's harboring issues of her may be cheating on him and when he sees her talking to one of his bestfriends, he loses it. The hit is so bad she ends up in the hospital with a fracture and scratches on her head.

Anyway, Will loses his close friends.. people pick sides.. Somehow, people start hating her, because of rumors. He drowns himself in alcohol for a year, moves on and elopes. She, on the other hand, mopes about him... turns to pills, alcohol, and men to numb the pain. With all their addictions... they still end up with high paying jobs, leading successful lives.. just pining over each other for the next 10 years.

Will and his wife separate, she says he needs to confront his past before their relationship can move forward, since she's always felt like he wasn't completely in love with her. Will finds Chloe and FINALLY reaches out to her to meet up and get closure.... and this is where everything starts to become so unbelievable... more so, than it already has been.

They're both looney. There's an 11 year age difference between them, and you don't know who's immaturity is more stagnant... May be that's why they belong together.. Oh, and the twist with his wife.. like really? Was that even necessary? It didn't make any sense of how or why it happen. I mean, is this Jaime's revenge? how the does the wife even know Jaime, since after the incident, it seemed like Will's relationship with Jaime ended, and out of no where Jaime flies out of someone's bunghole and making babies with Will's wife? Jaime reappearing makes NO sense, his wife acting like she still wants him back even though she's shacking it up with Jaime at her Mom's house, makes NO SENSE!! Her keeping the secret from for the entire time they are separated makes no sense.. and then everything is all glossed over again, into another outrageous stunt to a HEA.

This could've been an amazing read, if there was structure. IF the author took the time to work out the issues that Will and Chloe went through/battling. Will holding so much anger he knocks his girlfriend out is a BIG DEAL!! Chloe, turning to pills/alcohol, and sex to numb herself is a BIG DEAL.. her losing her baby at a time when everything is falling apart is a BIG DEAL!! The both of them making excuses for their actions is a BIG DEAL. It's all over the place with mental break downs.. which makes sense, since none of them got any real help with their issues. I'm supposed to believe they make up, after 10 years of being separated and no contact, and its all easy peasy? She didn't even tell him about the pregnancy, she barely spoke about the bad stuff she got herself into when they were apart.. what, she's all clean now.. Everything's all sunshine, rainbows, and unicorns flying in unison because she's back to bouncing on his appendage?? Nope, I don't think so...

This was such a good second chance romance! Will and Chloe had a love that would make anyone jealous until one changed everything for them. What was supposed to be a happy occasion for them turned into them not seeing each other for 10 years. There's a lot of healing and forgiveness that needs to happen between them before they can move on. I loved both characters and was happy to see them get their happy ending. I enjoyed this book and can't wait to see what happens with Raven and Sean next!

The most unbelievable story I have ever read. There is domestic abuse so be warned. It is an unforgivable action that is forgiven easily and not only that he does something else.

I didn’t know if I wanted to read this book after reading the sample. I was in an abusive relationship at one time and I didn’t know if I wanted to read about it, but this is a very good book. Will and Chloe are a good couple after work out their problems, it took them ten years to get it together.
