Ukraine defense minister nixes early peace talks with Moscow

Reznikov says negotiations can begin only after Russia withdraws completely

Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said negotiations will happen "when the Russians realize that their resources are running out."

TOKYO/BELGRADE, Serbia -- Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov ruled out an early resumption of cease-fire talks with Russia, saying on Dec. 13 that "we will be ready to sit down at the negotiating table after Russian troops completely withdraw from Ukrainian territory."

Asked about drone attacks on air bases in Russian territory, he hinted at Kyiv's involvement, saying that "Ukraine has the right to self-defense."
