Creandum expands its London Team — Hanel Baveja joins as Principal
At Creandum, our investment efforts go far beyond the borders of Europe and with our US office and our General Partner Carl based in San Francisco, we have always had a strong presence in the American market. Now, as the European tech ecosystem continues to flourish, it’s the first time we have a US native crossing the pond to join Creandum: We are thrilled to welcome Hanel Baveja as Principal to join us in our London office!
Hanel brings a wealth of experience and a diverse background to our organization, having spent the past three years as an early-stage investor at Union Square Ventures in New York City. During her time at USV, Hanel worked closely with portfolio companies in various sectors including Zanskar, Slope, Mundi, Floodmapp, Sofar Ocean and Mindset.
Hanel’s career in venture capital began at Insight Partners, an NYC-based growth-stage software-focused fund, where she was part of the investment team. She also worked on the business development team at Vettery.
In addition to her professional experience, Hanel has a unique background. Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, she studied Economics and Creative Writing at Harvard (with an intermission studying Art History and French in Aix-en-Provence, France) before moving to New York City. Her varied background and interests, including being a short story editor, writer, and camp counsellor, add a new dimension to our team and we are excited to see her bring her fresh perspectives to Creandum.
We’ve got to know Hanel as a highly thoughtful and outgoing individual, who is deeply invested in working with early-stage entrepreneurs across various industries. As we continue to expand our focus on emerging new sectors like AI or climate tech, we look forward to Hanel’s contributions in helping us dive deeper into these areas. She will also help us further dig into the French startup ecosystem. Furthermore, Hanel’s expertise and extensive network in the US market will be a valuable asset to our efforts in providing the best possible support to our portfolio companies as they navigate and thrive in this crucial market.
Hanel joins our London office as the 10th employee, where she will support our investment team, talent and marketing functions. The London team has rapidly grown in the past 1.5 years, since we opened our office in August 2021. We’re delighted to have Hanel strengthen our team efforts on the ground while working in close collaboration with the wider Creandum team across our other key hubs Stockholm, Berlin and San Francisco.
