Our Community Solar Accelerator programme contributed a £25,000 grant to Solent Wholesale Carpet Co Ltd.’s 100.33kW solar PV installation.

Solent Wholesale Carpet Co Ltd are a family run independent flooring distributor supplying flooring retailers and contractors in the South of England. Originally started by Tom McHale in Havant, Hampshire in 1969, they are now run by the second and third generations of the original family.

Their current warehouse is based in Chichester with an ideal roof and orientation for solar panels.

As a business Solent Wholesale Carpet Co Ltd are conscious of reducing their carbon footprint and the project will help meet their green goals.

Producing their own electricity will reduce their energy bills, making them less vulnerable to future energy price increases. With the solar PV installation, they will also be able to produce small amounts of excess energy to provide green energy back to the grid.
