Death is all around you.
Your kingdom will soon turn to ash.
But,
There is salvation beyond the darkness,
If only you’ll reach out and take it . . .

This one was good! It had a great story line with great characters. I even liked the villain of this story. Princess Lunielle she is the fallen princess sent to save her kingdom when she runs into Aurion who helps save her. They set off to fight Lord Sepher who is the villain in this story who is trying to make Princess Lunielle his bride! I love the twist and turns in this story. It had a great amount of action that kept you flipping to find out what would happen next. I am really excited to see where this story goes in book 2 and to learn even more about these characters!! Check out the tropes in this book..

Tropes:
-chosen but reluctant heroine
-magical Heroine
-prophecy
-coming of age
-medieval romance
-high fantasy
-love triangle
-coming of age
-fish out of water
-forced Proximity
-hidden Identity

Trigger / Content Warnings: Onscreen Dubious Consent ("Dream infiltration"), Child energy stealing ritual but returned to normal, A marred arm that is healed quickly

☾ 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 & 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 has tropes that I really enjoyed. There wasn’t as much world building like most fantasy books have.

☾ I like 𝗔𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗻. He is the knight and shining armor that will save you from the vile world kind of guy.

☾ As for 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲, she just seems a bit childish for my own taste. I was hoping a really good character development from her, but, that didn’t really happen. I do like that she’s not selfish in her own ways, I mean the girl is trying to save her kingdom. She’s just way too whiny for my liking.

☾ 𝗟𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿. Okay, I like his character because who doesn’t like the villain? He is the type of man that will burn the world for you and I am here for that.

☾ Honestly my favorite characters are Ulric and Fendrel (I probably misspelled their names). There wasn’t much context on the relationship aspect between the characters, it just sort of happened.

☾ But overall, this had a really shocking ending and WTF?!? I can definitely see it happening with the royalty during that time though.

This story follows Princess Lunielle Evenar who is sent to Gaea to learn and master cultivation to save her kingdom from starvation where their plants are dying. When she arrives, she finds a man who is a forager and thinks he can help her learn how to cultivate and save her kingdom.

It’s a slow start to the story, that leads to a lot of action in the end. While reading, you wonder will happen at first because we first learn more about the characters, even the villain! and the world. The writing style is different and at times made me think of Shakespeare, especially with how passionate the characters can be, which I love!

I will admit I had a really hard time getting into this story, and had a hard time understanding the world and how it works and the magic system. I personally love world building, and I think you need it for a fantasy world. The female MC was also not my favorite, but may grow as the series continues. The romance was not very believable for me, but I really do like Aurion, he was quite sweet and adorable! I also really enjoyed the villain!

I’m curious to see how the story continues and see how the characters grow more, especially with how it ended. This is more of a 2.5 to almost a 3 star read for me since I just am unsure still how I truly felt about the book, but I have always been pleasantly surprised with how a series continues and ends and will exceed my expectations! The story has a lot of potential and I plan on continuing the series!

I received a free digital copy to read. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Moonlight and Fire is the first book in The Fallen Princess series and this was just a wonderful way to start off a new series. I was just drawn into this wonderful story and I just couldn’t get enough of it. It was just so easy to get lost in this great story. I just didn’t want it to end. I just lost myself in it and I just couldn’t get enough of these interesting characters. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.

The writing is in old English style giving the reader that organic fairytale vibe. It really sets you into the world as Lunielle navigates her way through her new life and challenges. It was refreshing to read this in such modern times. I felt like I was surrounded by magic every time I dived into this book. If you love high fantasy with a bit of romance I highly recommend this for you. It has plenty of plots and twists that have you turning the pages with anticipation.

This author is new to me but I loved this book!! I loved the world that was created and the characters in that world!! Princess Lunielle is a privileged young woman...which she IS a princess, so that makes sense, but her quest is a wake up call for her and it was lovely to see her grow and mature from the slightly spoiled girl she was to a woman who could hold her own and love freely. This story was beautiful and I can't wait until book 2 comes out!!

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
